Policies

Our policies are in place to help us provide you with the very best care.

Age Policy

Guilford Pediatrics provides a full range of healthcare services to infants, toddlers, children, teens, and young adults (until age 26).

Sick Visits

You must have an appointment to be seen by one of our providers. We strive to provide same-day appointments and have same-day appointments reserved for sick children during regular office hours. If your child is not feeling well during our office hours and needs to be seen, please call our office to ensure that we have an available appointment. If we can't accommodate a same-day appointment, our doctors and office staff will work with you to arrange an alternative to receive prompt and appropriate care.

Newborn visits

If you are a parent of a newborn, please call the office as soon as possible to schedule your baby's first checkups.

Privacy Policies

We at Guilford Pediatrics understand that your medical/health information is personal and private. In order to provide you with quality care and to ensure compliance with certain legal requirements, we create a record of the care and services you receive in our office. We respect the privacy and confidentiality of medical/health information about you and information that can be identified with you. This is called "protected health information".

Your protected health information is contained in the medical and billing records maintained by our practice. It includes demographic information and information that relates to your present, past, or future physical or mental health and related health care service.

Vaccine Policy

For the health and safety of all of our patients, Guilford Pediatrics has adopted a 100% vaccination policy. Our patients will be expected to complete their primary vaccination series by age two. Children older than two will be expected to complete all state-mandated vaccines, or we will not be able to see them in this office. In addition, we are not able to arrange or administer split doses of vaccines.

Many parents of this generation may have no personal experience with the potentially devastating childhood diseases that we can now prevent, such as polio, meningitis, and whooping cough. These diseases, which were nearly wiped out, are currently undergoing a resurgence due to parents choosing not to vaccinate. They can cause not just disability but death. We believe it is unethical to expose unvaccinated newborns and immunologically vulnerable children to these diseases. While we understand that parents may have concerns about vaccines due to media attention, we believe that vaccines are safe and vital for your child's health.

Immunizations are most effective when an entire community participates. When you immunize your child, you are not only protecting your child from serious disease, but you are also helping protect your whole family, friends, and neighbors.

We strongly believe in the importance of immunizations and fully support the childhood immunization schedule established by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Therefore, our policy requires that every patient within our group receive the vaccinations listed below:

By 18 months of age, your child will receive the following:

  • Hepatitis B: 3 Doses

  • Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP): 4 Doses

  • Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV): 3 Doses

  • Haemophilus Influenza (HIB): 4 Doses

  • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (Prevnar): 4 Doses

  • Varicella Vaccine (Chicken Pox): 1 Dose

  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): 1 Dose

By 5 years of age, your child will receive these additional vaccines:

  • A fifth dose of DTaP

  • A second dose of MMR

  • A fourth dose of IPV

  • A second dose of Varicella (Chicken Pox)

By 12 years of age, your child will receive the following:

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TDaP): 1 Dose

  • Meningococcal Vaccine (Menactra): 1 Dose

  • In addition, we highly recommend (but do not require) the following vaccinations:

  • Rotavirus (Rotarix): 2 Doses

  • Hepatitis A: 2 doses, beginning at 12 months of age

  • Influenza Vaccination: 2 doses the first year received and 1 dose annually

  • COVID Vaccination: dosing regimens vary by age and manufacturer

For Preteens/Teens:

  • 2 or 3 doses of HPV-9 (Gardasil)

We are aware of the concerns about vaccine safety voiced by a very small yet vocal minority. These claims have no scientific or statistical bases. To date, there have been over 30 scientific studies that have proven, conclusively, that vaccines are safe. â€‹
