Our providers focus on providing quality medical care focused on shared decision-making. Our pediatricians and nurse practitioners are board certified and strive to provide your children with the best pediatric care on the CT Shoreline.
Dr. Nancy Czarkowski
("zar-cow-ski" - easier to say than it looks!)
Dr. Czarkowski joined Guilford Pediatrics in 1987. Originally from Philadelphia, she graduated from Bryn Mawr College, then moved to Connecticut to attend medical school at Yale University. She also completed her internship and residency at Yale, and volunteered in the adolescent medicine clinic there for many years. Other interests include reading, gardening and bee-keeping! She is an enthusiastic hiker, as well as a practicing Zen student. Dr. C lives in Guilford with her family/menagerie and occasionally provides a foster home for dogs waiting adoption.
Dr. Dia B. Flanagan
Dr. Flanagan joined Guilford Pediatrics in January of 2009 and had been practicing in Madison for the previous nine years. Dr. Flanagan received her medical degree at the University of Connecticut. During her training she had the opportunity to practice in a remote area of Swaziland, Africa, where she discovered her love of kids and making them better. She went on to complete her pediatrics residency at UConn's Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Prior to medical training, she earned her B.S. in chemistry from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. Being a native of Madison, she worked her way back to the shoreline after she started a family. Dr. Flanagan now lives in Madison with her husband and three children. She enjoys running, biking, and skiing. You may see her at the beach or at sporting events with her family.
Dr. Rob Nolfo
Dr. Nolfo joined Guilford Pediatrics in 1997 after completing his pediatrics residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Guilford in 1986. Dr. Nolfo earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College in 1983 and his Masters of Science in Physiology in 1986 from Long Island University. He earned his M.D. from Yale School of Medicine in 1994. Dr. Nolfo is the director of the Shoreline Concussion Center (part of Guilford Pediatrics) and he is the medical advisor in the Guilford, North Branford, and North Haven school districts. His areas of expertise are in concussion management, nutrition, and developmental pediatrics. He lives with his wife, Emily Nolfo, who is an internist in Guilford. They both play in a rock band called, Take Two and Call Me in the Morning, comprised mostly of doctors. He and Emily have two daughters. Lauren and her husband live in Madison with their son, Lane who was born in 2015, and Mariella, who is a Licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, and her husband live in Prineville, Oregon.
Dr. Jonathan Stein
Dr. Jonathan Stein is a New England native who finished his pediatrics residency at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital in 1997. From 1997 -1998 he remained at Yale as Chief Resident in Pediatrics. Prior to his residency, he was an undergraduate at Yale, earning a B.S. in biology in 1989. He graduated from the Albert Einstein College of medicine in 1994. In addition to his strong commitment to providing single office, accessible “country-style” Pediatrics, Dr. Stein is quite busy outside the office. He is a Medical Director at the Privia Quality Network of Connecticut – an organization that supports independent practices across the state. He continues to hold a faculty appointment at the Frank Netter School of Medicine (Quinnipiac University) where he taught Foundations of Clinical Care for many years. He worked for the Make-A-Wish foundation as a medical advisor for the Connecticut chapter. In 2011 he was selected as a national organizations Chief Medical Advisor and served in that role for four years. Dr. Stein lives in Madison with his wife and four boys.
Dr. Valentine Esposito
Dr. Esposito joined Guilford Pediatrics in 2024 from Boston, where she practiced at Boston Children’s Hospital Primary Care Center and served as faculty at Harvard Medical School. She received her M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine and completed her pediatrics residency at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In addition to providing general pediatric primary care, she is excited to contribute her special interests in mental health and early childhood development.
Kathy Kruser, APRN
Kathy joined Guilford Pediatrics in 1996. She spent her childhood in the Midwest, eventually landing in Connecticut. She worked at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 12 years in several departments, including the Pediatric ICU and the adolescent unit. She received her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College and her Master's degree from Sacred Heart University. Kathy lives in North Branford with her daughter Jillian and her miniature dachshund Lucy. She enjoys singing in her church choir, reading, and going to the gym.
Alexandra Slattery, APRN
Alexandra joined Guilford Pediatrics in January 2023 after working at a community health clinic in rural Arizona for three years. This prepared her to manage many acute and chronic pediatric illnesses due to specialists and pediatric hospitals being difficult to access. Alex is passionate about early childhood development, asthmatic, and orthopedic care. She received her B.S. from Springfield College in Health Care Sciences, then earned a Master's degree from Yale School of Nursing in Pediatric Primary Care. Alex is a Madison native who knew she would want to move back once starting a family. She lives in Madison with her husband, daughter, and dog Riley. Alex enjoys reading, being outdoors, and baking in her free time.
